NCIt Mapping Files

The NCIt maintains a collection of mappings to other vocabularies: ChEBI, HGNC and SwissProt(UniProt)

NCIt-ChEBI Mapping

This data is in the form of a tab delimited file with the following columns:

• NCIt Code: An unambiguous, unique, permanent alpha-numeric code assigned to every concept in the NCIt.
• ChEBI Code: An identifier within the EBI Chemical Entities of Biological Interest database.

GO-NCIt Mapping

This data is in the form of a tab delimited file with the following columns:

• GO Code: An identifier within the Gene Ontology.
• NCIt Code: An unambiguous, unique, permanent alpha-numeric code assigned to every concept in the NCIt.

NCIt-HGNC Mapping

This data is in the form of a tab delimited file with the following columns:

• NCIt Code: An unambiguous, unique, permanent alpha-numeric code assigned to every concept in the NCIt.
• HGNC Code: An identifier for the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee certified gene.

NCIt-SwissProt Mapping

This data is in the form of a tab delimited file with the following columns:

• NCIt Preferred NameThe word or phrase that NCI uses by preference to refer to the concept.
• NCIt Code: An unambiguous, unique, permanent alpha-numeric code assigned to every concept in the NCIt.
• SwissProt Entry ID: The identifier for a reviewed entry Protein within the Swiss-Prot database.

NCIt Mapping files available on this NCI EVS ftp site (http://evs.nci.nih.gov/ftp1/NCI_Thesaurus/Mappings/) include:

• About.html This file.
• GO-NCIt_Mapping.txt
• NCIt-ChEBI_Mapping.txt
• NCIt-HGNC_Mapping.txt
• NCIt-SwissProt_Mapping.txt
• NCIt_Mapping_Version.txt Text file that contains the version of NCI Thesaurus that corresponds to the current data. The database is reconciled the last Monday of every month. The files will be posted during the following two weeks. The version appears as YR.MOweek. An example is 11.02d which corresponds to the year 2011, the month of February, and the "d" refers to the fourth Monday of the month.
• ICD-O-3_Mappings Directory of ICD-0-3.1-NCIt mappings.
  
• Archive Directory of dated release versions.
  Note: If there are no changes to the data for a particular month, the files will not be reposted.

• Visit the NCI Mappings tab of the NCI Terminology Browser to view these and other mappings
• Visit the Term Suggestion page to suggest a modification to an existing term or the addition of a term to the mapping.
